Burn subtitles into video with MediaSplat and VideoSplat

What “burn in” means

Burned-in subtitles become part of the picture. Viewers do not need a separate subtitle file or a caption switch, and the text stays visible when the video is shared. Because the text is permanent in that exported copy, keep your original video and subtitle file for future changes.

The quick route: MediaSplat

1. Open MediaSplat and choose Subtitles.
2. Select your video and an SRT or VTT file.
3. Adjust the font size, bottom margin, outline, and optional black background.
4. If the captions appear too early or late, set a timing offset. A positive number delays them; a negative number advances them.
5. Choose Burn subtitles to MP4 and download the finished file.

MediaSplat renders the text with a bundled font and exports H.264/AAC MP4. Layout adjusts for landscape and portrait footage.

The editing route: VideoSplat

1. Open VideoSplat, choose Edit video on the welcome screen if shown, and add your video to the timeline.
2. Choose File → Burn in subtitles…, select the SRT/VTT file, and adjust appearance and timing.
3. Choose Add subtitles to timeline, then play or scrub through the captions to check placement.
4. Open File → Export video… and leave Burn in subtitles checked.
5. Render and download the video in your chosen export format.

Uncheck burn-in to export without captions. Hidden caption tracks are excluded. Caption timing is relative to the project timeline, so check synchronization after trimming or rearranging footage. Imports append to existing captions; remove the old caption track first if you are replacing it. You can still save a separate SRT through the Edit menu.

Keep the work on your device

These workflows do not require an upload or an account. They import existing subtitle files, rather than generating a transcript. Formatting tags are removed on import; the appearance controls set the rendered style. Burn-in requires re-encoding, so long videos take more time and browser memory.
