Licensing and pricing

Licensing and software cost

DrawSplat software is free for teachers, students, classrooms, campuses, and districts. There is no per-student or per-seat product charge. Hosting costs and optional services are separate.

Software licenses

  • DrawSplat whiteboard, backends, and tools: GNU AGPL-3.0-or-later under the repository LICENSE, unless a file or subdirectory supplies a different notice.
  • SplatWorks: follow each application’s license notice, including GPL-3.0-only for WriteSplat, ListSplat, and GridSplat. Third-party libraries and embedded frameworks retain their own notices.
  • Your content: boards, student work, uploaded media, and exports belong to their respective authors. Included or external media may have separate copyright and attribution requirements.

Self-hosting and modifications

Retain applicable copyright and license notices and provide corresponding source as required by each license. AGPL includes a source-offer requirement for users interacting over a network with a modified version. Read the actual GNU AGPL text and component notices when distributing or modifying the package. Project names and logos do not imply endorsement of a district’s modified deployment.

Pricing and optional services

The pricing page is the current reference for free software and optional implementation, professional learning, compliance review, and custom development services. Paid services require a separate quote or agreement. Database hosting, servers, backups, domain names, and provider charges are your deployment’s operating costs.

Licenses and district agreements

An open-source software license permits use under its terms; it does not replace a privacy agreement, promise managed hosting, or certify legal compliance. Use Compliance and district review for NDPA/DPA and operational review documents.
